We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Science and Health Technician to support the effective maintenance of all Science facilities and to support the teaching team in the delivery of training sessions using simulation learning. Duties: To give practical assistance to staff in the department and assist students across the College in a supporting role when classes are in operation (when required). Prepare the teaching and learning environment for a specific simulation activity such as an introductory session to the area for new students or teaching students about particular skills, techniques and methodologies associated with a process or equipment or artistic / creative technique. ?To assist with the area’s Health and Safety requirements which includes taking an active part in maintaining any applicable system (eg Risk Assessments, maintaining Risk Assessment Logs, up-dating COSHH forms, maintenance of specialise equipment, storge of radioactive materials, etc) Safely demonstrate to students and staff how to operate simple and more complex equipment and facilitate the use of these tools. Collation of data, documentation and resources in order to support and enhance teaching and learning. Collating and maintaining inventories of equipment and gathering student/staff feedback from simulation activity. Skills/Experience: Practical experience in the science industry Understanding of safety requirements in a Science and laboratory environment Maintenance skills in terms of the specific care of science equipment and facilities Able to trouble shoot situations, systems and equipment and ability to escalate issues related to situations, systems and equipment. Confidence to demonstrate and facilitate approaches and techniques to a range of audiences. Ability to work unsupervised and using own initiative effectively Confidence with technology to programme and operate hardware and software used in simulation activity.
