This role involves supporting children with additional needs, ensuring they feel safe, valued and empowered in their educational journey. About the Role: As a School Care Worker, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to assist pupils with special educational needs (SEN), disabilities, or additional care requirements. Your role will involve ensuring their physical, emotional and academic well-being, enabling them to engage fully in school life. Responsibilities of a School Care Worker: Offering one-to-one and small group support for students with special educational needs and disabilities. Assisting pupils with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding and mobility support where necessary. Promoting positive behaviour management and emotional well-being. Encouraging students to develop independence and self-confidence in their learning and daily routines. Working collaboratively with school staff to implement individual learning and care plans. Monitoring students’ progress, well-being and development, reporting any concerns to relevant safeguarding leads. Supporting children during school activities, transitions and break times. Job Requirements of the School Care Worker: Experience in care work, social care, SEN support, or school-based assistance is highly desirable. A compassionate and patient approach, with a strong commitment to child welfare. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and families. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond sensitively to challenging situations. Relevant qualifications in childcare, social care, or health and social care are advantageous but not essential. Have an updated CV ( with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
