Job Title: Commissioning Engineer – FTC

Chemring Energetics UK (CEUK) is a global business providing energetic materials for defence, civil defence and commercial customers.
We are seeking a skilled Commissioning Engineer to join our dedicated team in preparing a state-of-the-art facility for propellant production. The successful candidate will collaborate with the team to prepare pre-commissioning documentation, including hazard studies, commissioning plans, operating instructions, and risk assessments. They will work closely with process engineers to gain knowledge of the current process and support the commissioning phase. This unique opportunity requires individuals who enjoy problem-solving and working with various stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities & Duties:
* Ensure all activities comply with H&SE legislation, company policy, and procedures.
* Report any unsafe acts or conditions observed using the Incident Reporting System.
* Design plant/process layouts, including jigs and tooling, in conjunction with product development engineers and the drawing office department.
* Lead Risk Assessments on manufacturing processes and trials work.
* Implement safe, lean manufacturing methods and manage engineering design changes according to change procedures.
* Review existing products and processes using Process FMEA and statistical analysis to develop improvement programs.
* Support root cause analysis and corrective action management plans.
* Maintain product design history files, including data packs and Bills of Materials.
* Provide written operating instructions, route cards, manufacturing quality plans, and training for production personnel.
* Assist with Production Readiness Review and handover to production.
* Perform technical assessments for material and supplier changes with SMEs and relevant departments.
* Analyze technical data, form conclusions, and provide recommendations.
* Prepare technical reports, presentations, and deliver technical information to diverse audiences.
* Develop safe and effective plans for trials or investigations.
* Provide support to production when addressing engineering issues.
* Maintain compliance with relevant industry legislation.
* Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, suppliers, and third parties.
* Work as directed to complete essential manufacturing projects.
* Support business development with bid preparation and requirements.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
* Understanding of engineering processes, particularly systems engineering, requirements management, validation, verification, product safety, and certification.
* Relate experience in a production environment.
* Lean Six Sigma knowledge (Green belt preferable).
* Engineering design and problem-solving skills.
* NEBOSH qualification (preferable).
* IT skills (MS Office, Teams).
