Overview:
The Vice President Mortgage Operations (Processing) is a senior leader supporting our Consumer Direct (CD) business line, contributing to the overall strategy and execution of our business platform. The VP is responsible for delivering superior service communication and production support to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth transactions from start to finish. This role includes managing team development, performance, efficient documentation gathering, continuous improvement through data, technology management, and effective customer communication.
Responsibilities:
* Design, implement, and manage performance metrics relevant to organizational goals, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
* Drive measurable improvements by optimizing workflows through technology and best practices.
* Own and manage the budget, understanding drivers and overall costs to run the operation efficiently.
* Provide leadership and guidance to direct and indirect reports, fostering a culture of continuous development and performance excellence.
* Offer direction, candid feedback, and challenging growth opportunities.
* Develop and recruit talent to ensure team strength and succession planning.
* Recognize and reward employee accomplishments.
* Work with the sales team to streamline efforts and maximize funded volume by minimizing gaps and errors.
* Identify and act on opportunities for business and process improvements.
* Evaluate and respond to internal and external reviews and audits related to quality control, compliance, and other related areas.
* Collaborate with IT for system upgrades and emerging needs.
* Manage third-party providers to ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Review and implement changes in investor standards and government regulations, updating policies and procedures accordingly.
* Leverage data to drive process improvements and customer satisfaction, updating policies and procedures as needed.
* Handle additional responsibilities as requested by management to achieve company goals and operational improvements.
* Occasional travel may be required (10-15%).
Qualifications:
* College degree preferred, or equivalent experience in mortgage banking originations and management.
* 10+ years of management experience, with at least 5 years in mortgage operations.
* 5+ years of proven experience driving measurable operational improvements using data.
* 5+ years of experience in workflow optimization.
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite and mortgage origination systems, particularly Encompass.
* Applied knowledge of regulatory requirements, government-sponsored enterprise loan programs, and mortgage documentation.
* Experience transforming or radically improving a mortgage processing operation.
* Experience leading or being a key stakeholder in digital transformation initiatives.
* Experience implementing and driving operational improvements with in-house or third-party technology.
* Experience using analytics to uncover insights and drive improvements (e.g., regression analysis, ad-hoc queries).
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple sites, personalities, and changing business/market conditions.
* Self-driven, highly responsive, and analytical with a proactive approach to improvement.
* Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and mentor staff, fostering a positive work environment.
* Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality output.
* Ability to make timely, difficult decisions even in challenging situations.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND/OR REGISTRATION:
* NMLS state licenses are beneficial to have but are not essential to the job.
