What we are looking for We are currently seeking a skilled Grounds Person to work all grounds areas of the Racecourse. Carrying out grounds maintenance, operating machinery and tractor driving as required. This will also involve attendance on racedays, including those that take place at weekends. What you’ll be doing • Operate machinery and tractor drive as required • Assist in the preparation of all racing surfaces and course renovation after racing • Build and repair (maintenance) of hurdles and fences • Assist with the movement of the course running rail • Assist with mowing of all grass areas • Operate the irrigation system and water the track and other areas as instructed. • Assist with the maintenance of non-grass areas inside perimeter fencing • Assist with the maintenance of car park areas, including drainage systems • Assist with the cleaning of outdoor areas as and when required • Assist with the preparation of planting schemes • Carry out general maintenance of machinery as required • In accordance with Health and Safety regulations the job holder is required to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of the persons who may be affected by their activities. The job holder must co-operate with the Company to enable them to meet their legal duties. This will include awareness of all Health and Safety issues relating to the role including risk assessment, emergency procedures, office safety and any additional relevant training. Skills and experience you can bring • Experience in general grounds maintenance and use of relevant machinery, including experience in tractor driving.
