We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Sheffield. In this role, you will minimise the cost and risk of ITI Group's projects and enhance value for money, whilst achieving the required legal standards and quality support to the project management function. Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the management of costs and earnings on projects, including estimating, planning, measuring and monitoring progress and costs. You will also have the opportunity to maintain project controls, develop and negotiate claims, contract management and give advice on legal and contractual issues for groups of smaller projects as well as large-scale projects. Salary: up to £32,000 depending on skills and experience. You will: Accurately forecast cost and income and report in a clear, unambiguous manner. Liaise and work collaboratively with project managers, site managers, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Gather and prepare reports, analysis, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other necessary and relevant documents and reviewing them with the appropriate management or personnel. Know, adhere, and advise on contract/legislative conditions. Perform risk, value management and cost control during project delivery. Document relevant changes in design and updating budgets when required - building supporting evidence and submitting change control notices/variations to clients in line with contractual requirements. Plan procurement for projects and controlling spend and payments. Negotiate contracts and work schedules, allocate work to subcontractors, and oversee their work at all stages. Build and maintain excellent customer relationships. Establish appropriate longer term agreements with suppliers/sub-contractors where this brings a business advantage. Promote and ensure conformity and consistency in the application of the company management process within projects. Demonstrate flexibility and customer focus. We are looking for: Experience and Knowledge Appropriate Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying Construction Management or similar subject Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel Good knowledge of other Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Visio Skills and Abilities Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Strong commercial, financial and contract management skills. Effective decision making and strong verbal and written communication Excellent negotiating skills required to negotiate costs with vendors and subcontractors and ensure the best deals and minimum budget as much as possible.
