Position:Assistant Editor Belfast, £26,760 per annum(pro rata) Part-Time (17.5 hours) Centre for Global Education The Centre for Global Education (CGE) is a development non-governmental organisation (NGO) which provides education services that enhance awareness at a local level of international development issues. CGE provides training and resources that support participative learning designed to engender new skills, values, attitudes and knowledge which enable us to understand the factors that underpin poverty and injustice, and take action for social change. Policy and Practice: A Development Education Review Policy and Practice is a bi-annual, online international journal published by the Centre for Global Education, that enables development education (DE) practitioners to critically reflect on their practice and the policy environment in which it is delivered. The journal has been in publication since 2005 and aims to: debate the development issues that underpin poverty and inequality and how they can be addressed; support dialogue between authors in the global North and South; further integrate DE in the higher education sector; support research and provide a teaching aid on global issues; and support the professional development of journal users. Assistant Editor The post-holders responsibilities include: supporting the editing of journal articles to publication; maintaining the Policy and Practice web site by uploading new issues and updating other pages as necessary; promoting the journal to local and international audiences; supporting the organization of seminars to debate the content of each new issue of the journal; updating a database of journal citations and compiling reports on use of the journal web site; and promoting the journal at development education seminars and events. The post is part-time (17.5 hours per week) with a fixed-term contract until 31 May 2025. The post-holder will be based in the Centre for Global Education with the option of working from home. Essential Criteria Strong interest in, or experience of, development education / international development. Published article in a social science journal. Administrative experience in organising events and producing reports. The ability to maintain effective and secure information storage systems. Working on time bound projects and to deadlines. Experience of promoting publications and events using social media and electronic publications. Qualifications Post-graduate qualification in a social science. Skills Excellent IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Office 365.
