Job Introduction i is looking for an experienced sub-editor to join our growing newsroom. The successful candidate will join our production team, working across products and platforms to elevate and enhance our journalism. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an ambitious team at a key moment in i’s growth. Main Responsibilities Copy subbing across our digital and print platforms Working on a broad range of copy including news, opinion, features, culture and money and business Writing engaging and informative headlines for digital and print Cutting and reworking digital copy for our print audience Some print production, working with InDesign to produce and finesse pages Liaising with section heads, newsdesk, reporters, pictures, graphics and design to ensure every story is produced to the highest standards Person Specification A flair and passion for language, excellent news sense, great initiative, and the ability to write headlines that sing. A strong interest in news and current affairs. The ability to work quickly, creatively, and accurately under pressure, to tight deadlines. Excellent knowledge of content management systems, WordPress, InCopy and InDesign. Strong copy-subbing skills, from crafting compelling prose to spotting legal problems. At least three years' experience in a senior sub-editing role at a daily title. Used to handling fast-moving news stories and able to juggle competing demands. Passion for the i project, and an appreciation of i's structure, style and ethos.
