Job Description
Senior Auditor
Permanent
Location: Edinburgh (typically 2 days in the office per week, with Wednesday as a team day)
We’re driven by our commitment to helping the UK get ready for retirement. As part of this, we’re constantly developing new ways to simplify, improve and revolutionise how we help individuals, employers, advisers, our communities, and the environment. That means we need the right kind of people on our team.
We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Insurance, Savings, Investments.
The Job
The Audit department provides comprehensive and independent assurance over Aegon UK’s internal controls, risk management and governance. Assurance is provided through a series of audit engagements each year covering a wide range of internal functions and legal entities across the company.
We have two exciting opportunities available due to recent internal promotions. As Senior Auditor, you will be a key contributor towards the delivery of the annual audit plan which provides the basis for a systematic, risk-based approach to evaluating and improving corporate governance, risk management and internal controls within AUK.
This role will give you the opportunity to work on implementing global strategies and you’ll be providing the skills and insight to understand the quality and effectiveness of the Aegon framework in an independent and objective way, reporting information to key stakeholders and governance forums, all while contributing to the successful execution of audit services in line with professional, company and functional standards.
You will be involved in:
1. Planning and delivering audit engagements including identifying and evaluating risks and controls, and their impact on the wider business.
2. Producing high quality write-ups, addressing review points and supporting draft reporting.
3. Contributing to regular discussions with stakeholders throughout audit engagements including the assessment of practical remedial actions and review of action closure evidence.
4. Effective management of engagement files from set up to closure.
5. Supporting departmental projects and initiatives in the development of a high performing Audit function.
6. Actively contributing to the definition, delivery and embedding of global strategies and initiatives.
7. Mentoring and coaching junior colleagues during assignments and supervising the conduct of their activities.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
1. Auditing expertise (either internal or external) particularly within operations or investments.
2. Strong relationship management skills with demonstrated ability to effectively manage and navigate complex stakeholder challenges with a positive and professional approach.
3. Proven experience developing business partnerships, with the ability to clearly communicate risks and strategies in both verbal and written communications.
4. Ambitious about your personal development, with an appetite to take on different projects and challenges, always striving to make an impact and add value.
5. Proven capability to work autonomously while effectively utilising team and managerial support and oversight.
It’d also be great – but not essential - if you’ve got:
1. Experience working within Financial Services.
2. Experience of data analysis relating to Audit.
3. Interest in the application of AI.
4. Experience of auditing change delivery.
What’s in it for you?
1. A non-contributory pension between 8%-12%.
2. A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance.
3. 34 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time).
4. We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our employees live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments.
This is a challenging job. It’s crucial to our future success. If that sounds like the sort of role you'd like to own, hit the "Apply" button.
The legal bits
We’ll need you to confirm you have the right to work in the UK. If we offer you a job and you accept, there are some checks we need to complete before you can start with us. This will include a credit and criminal record check, as well as providing satisfactory references.
