What You Will Do An opportunity has arisen for dietitian to join NHS Ayrshire and Arran, Mental Health Dietetic Team. You will work closely within our team of dietitians and the wider multi-disciplinary team providing evidence based nutritional care for our clients. Experience of working with clients within mental health and learning disabilities is not essential but may stand you in good stead in this extremely rewarding area of dietetics. You will work with elderly mental health patients and adults with learning disabilities within the service to meet a variety of different nutritional needs including artificial feeding, nutrition support, weight management, bowel health management, fluid intake and other health diagnoses with a nutritional status implication i.e. diabetes, coeliac disease etc. As such you will gain experience in a wide range of dietetic areas. There will be opportunities to become involved in service development, quality improvement projects and professional development. Whilst you will be line-managed and supervised by the team lead, you will be supported by the whole team, as well as receiving support from the elderly mental health and learning disability health teams for that locality. The Mental Health Dietetic Team is are part of a wider North Ayrshire Dietetic team who are based at Ayrshire Central hospital/Woodland View in Irvine. The dietetic department hold regular clinical supervision sessions, shared education sessions and professional development days. We also have many internal learning opportunities. The team takes a positive and proactive approach to supporting staff in their personal development.
