Clee Hill Plant has a nationwide network of 9 depots (Glasgow, Darlington, Stoke, Chesterfield, Ludlow, Corby, Andover, Dartford and Newton Abbot) with a fleet of over 2,500 machines.
The Role:
Reporting to the Depot Manager, we have a vacancy for a Workshop Manager at our Darlington Depot (DL5 6BH). Basic hours are 8:00am until 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
The main purpose is to effectively lead and manage the Workshop activities so that they achieve the required ‘Standards of Quality of Service’ whilst ensuring full compliance with the appropriate Company Policies, Procedures, and Legal requirements.
Key Duties:
• Lead and motivate workshop staff ensuring they are aware of their individual objectives, are competent to achieve them, and their performances are monitored, realistically assessed, and improved where appropriate.
• Maintain plant and vehicles to comply with documented service requirements, ensuring roadworthiness and regulatory compliance at all times.
• Demonstrate awareness of and effectively implement the Company’s QESH Policies and Procedures. Compliance to be confirmed by regular inspection and audit of the workplace and working practices.
Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate must have experience in maintenance and repair of plant and equipment within our fleet and also have experience in the management of a workshop engaging in the maintenance and repair of heavy plant machinery (e.g., excavators, rollers, dumpers, pavers, welfare units, etc.).
Essential Skills and Qualities:
• People management and interpersonal skills
• Suitable Plant Maintenance or Engineering qualifications (Ideally NVQ3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent)
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Excellent problem solving and decision making
• Experience in using Microsoft Office
Candidates must possess a valid driving licence.
