About The Role
The Department of Education and Childhood Studies is appointing a 0.5 Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to teach the MFL pathway on our highly successful secondary PGCE.
Since its inception in 2019, the PGCE programmes at Swansea University have gone from strength to strength. In the last year, the secondary programme has been through an Estyn inspection and been reaccredited by the Education Workforce Council. Both have complimented us on the strength of our programmes in general, with particular recognition for our work on wellbeing and on linking research and practice. We are now appointing a 0.5 Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to teach the MFL pathway.
The appointee will become a member of the Department of Education and Childhood Studies. This is a vibrant and collegial department with a commitment to undertaking and disseminating meaningful research. We work in partnership with many other universities in Wales and beyond, and with other parts of the education sector. We pride ourselves on the quality of our research environment for all staff, something that was complimented by the ESTYN inspection team.
The successful applicant will lead the MFL pathway of the secondary PGCE. They will also make contributions to other programmes in the department including the MA Education (Wales) and/or other undergraduate or Masters programmes.
Whilst we welcome applications from anyone with the experience and knowledge necessary to take on these roles, we would especially welcome applicants who are able to teach and assess in the medium of Welsh.
Applications for this role will take the format of a CV submission and cover letter.
A satisfactory enhanced DBS certificate must be provided before a start date can be confirmed.
In the cover letter for this application, please explain whether you are applying for the role at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, showing how you meet the expectations of that level.
