Role Overview
Working in the Group Financial Reporting and technical accounting team, this role includes responsibility for producing and delivering all aspects of external reporting with a focus on IFRS 17. The role has responsibility for acting as a technical accounting expert and adviser on IFRS 17, and effectively operating as a deputy to the GFRM.
Lead the delivery of the month end close process both statutory and management, production of group quarterly results pack and disclosures for submission to parent company, reporting to the group audit committee and writing board papers.
The Senior Group Financial Reporting Accountant will have hands on responsibility in relation to the delivery of transformational change as it pertains to group accounting and reporting and aspects of financial control that support the outputs from the team.
Job details - you'll need to have demonstrable experience in
* Ownership of the day-to-day coordination and management of the external audit across financial reporting team, wider finance function and more broadly the business as a whole
* Provide IFRS technical accounting advice, with particular focus on (but not limited to) IFRS 17 to the accounting operations team, senior management and other stakeholders.
* Co -lead for the production of Loan covenant certification and all aspects of reporting to the Group's lending syndicate at half year and year end
* Ensuring that best practice controls environment exist and maintained in financial and regulatory reporting
* Deliver technical accounting projects including consultation with other teams throughout the group and preparation of technical accounting memos and discussion papers
* Co -lead for the production of climate- related disclosures in compliance with regulatory requirements
Skills we would love you to have
* Leadership and transformation skills with the ability to operate as part of the Group Financial Reporting Manager's leadership team
* Ability to coach/mentor to the group financial reporting accountants
* Experience working within a technical advisory team of one of the Big 4 accountancy practices with particular focus on IFRS 17 technical accounting advisory support
* Experience in technical accounting/accounting policy development team/financial reporting team of a UK publicly listed insurance company, IFRS 17 experience
* Ability to understand complex commercial and financial arrangements quickly and develop accounting solutions that are based on the applicable accounting standard within tight timeframes
