DSV are recruiting for Business Development Manager (flexible UK location).
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team in the third-party logistics (3PL) sector. This role is pivotal in identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and driving sales growth through innovative solutions and strategic proposals.
Reporting to the General Manager Business Development UK & IE, you will be responsible for lead generation, tender management from RFI through to RFQ, inclusive of the data collection, data analysis, warehousing solution design (at the intermediate level) and developing activity-based costing models. Customer contact at all levels through to the presentation stage will already be natural to you.
Key Tasks
1. Identifying new business opportunities via various lead generation practices: attending trade shows and exhibitions as well as direct mail.
2. Possessing a strong understanding of the company’s products, the competition in the industry and positioning.
3. Building relationships with new clients, gauging their needs and developing proposals to address these needs.
4. Analysing data, determining assumptions based on referral to existing customers and discussing these internally and with prospects.
5. Designing complete and correct cost models and P&L analyses for tenders.
6. Detecting possible improvements in logistical processes.
7. Communication with other departments in order to achieve the best possible concepts.
8. Designing and presenting warehouse processes and determining costs involved.
9. Participation in meetings/calls with prospects and customers.
10. Keeping up with the latest trends and innovations in warehousing and logistics.
11. Customer communications, presentations and proposals.
12. Guidance of new-business implementations.
13. Contract negotiations.

Skills and Competencies
1. Desirable Education: degree qualified
2. Experience:
3. Minimum 5 years of business development experience within 3PL
4. Proven record of sales growth
5. Ideally warehouse operational experience with a varied experience in logistics roles
6. E-commerce experience including starting up small to large volume solutions
7. Experience in implementation
8. Specialist Knowledge & Skills
9. The ability to sell ideas, products and services
10. Diligent use of activity-based costing models
11. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio)
12. Centre of Gravity tools experience
13. Insight into Warehouse Management Systems allowing for understanding of system capabilities
14. Analytical skills, high level accuracy and attention to detail
15. Sharp negotiation and networking skills
16. Interpersonal communication and language skills
17. Excellent customer service skills
18. Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
19. Able to develop and deliver presentations to managers and executives
20. Keeps informed of technical changes and industry trends
