They are currently seeking an experienced Financial Business Controller to oversee and enhance our financial operations across various business units globally.
Job Summary :
Based in Swords, Dublin, the Financial Business Controller will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of the business. You will be responsible for financial planning, analysis, reporting, and providing strategic financial insights to the leadership team. This role requires a strong understanding of financial management in a global logistics environment and a proactive approach to driving performance improvements across all regions.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Financial Planning & Analysis :
o Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
o Provide accurate and timely financial analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities across the organization.
o Analyse financial performance and make recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
2. Financial Reporting :
o Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
o Prepare detailed variance analysis reports, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and suggesting corrective actions when necessary.
o Report financial results to senior management, offering insights and recommendations for decision-making.
3. Business Partnering & Strategy :
o Collaborate with business leaders and regional teams to understand business performance, challenges, and opportunities.
o Provide financial expertise to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and cost-control measures.
o Work closely with operations, sales, and supply chain departments to assess financial impacts and optimise resource allocation.
4. Cost Control & Efficiency :
o Implement and monitor financial controls to ensure efficient use of resources and cost management across the organisation.
o Drive initiatives to improve working capital management, including cash flow optimisation and inventory management.
o Identify areas of operational inefficiency and recommend process improvements to reduce costs and increase profitability.
5. Compliance & Governance :
o Ensure compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and internal controls in all regions.
o Coordinate with external auditors for year-end audits and support compliance efforts with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
6. Team Leadership & Development :
o Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven environment.
o Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team, ensuring the adoption of best practices and processes.
Qualifications :
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or relevant professional certifications preferred).
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management or business control, preferably in the freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain industry.
* Strong understanding of financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting processes, particularly in a global business context.
* Experience with financial systems and tools, ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and advanced Excel skills.
* Knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and other financial reporting standards.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
* Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders across different regions.
* Strong leadership skills and experience managing and developing teams.
