Position: Senior Safeguarding Manager

Hours: FTE Mon-Fri (+matchdays as needed)
About Us
Charlton Athletic Football Club is an English professional association football club based in Charlton, south-east London. The club was founded on June 9th, 1905 and has a storied history, including winning the FA Cup in 1947 and returning to their Valley home in 1992. Currently, our men's first team competes in League One, and our women's team competes in the Women’s Championship.
Role Description:
The Senior Safeguarding Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing the safe provision of all activities and associated training relating to children, young people and adults at risk, providing leadership and guidance on all safeguarding matters and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide effective Club-wide strategic leadership of safeguarding.
* Provide oversight for safeguarding strategies, policies, and practices across Charlton Athletic and its academies.
* Represent and report to the Board on safeguarding policies and practices.
* Ensure Designated Safeguarding Officers have adequate time and resources.
* Ensure all safeguarding policies are signed off by the Board annually.
* Manage cases of poor practice and abuse reported to the organisation.
* Maintain accurate and confidential documentation on all cases of safeguarding.
* Manage referrals to relevant services as required.
* Provide advice and support to staff and volunteers regarding safeguarding concerns.
* Play a lead role in maintaining and reviewing the organisation’s safeguarding implementation plan.
Education/Qualifications/Training:
* Elite Sport and/or Education or Public Services Background to Management Level.
* Up-to-date knowledge of Safeguarding policies and practices.
* Up-to-date knowledge of recent DBS changes.
Specific Experience:
* Knowledge/experience of working in elite sport, education, or public service sectors.
* Understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE).
* Relevant degree/professional qualification or equivalent experience.
* Experience working or volunteering with children in an elite sporting environment.
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:
* Familiarity with relevant safeguarding rules and regulations.
* Strong organisational skills.
* Ability to handle confidential and sensitive material discreetly.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Flexibility and relationship-building skills.

* This is a full-time role that includes work on weekends and evenings (negotiable).
