An opportunity has arisen for full time Band 5 or band 6 BMS to join the team within Blood Sciences at St. Marys Hospital on the Isle of Wight.
The ideal candidate will hold the Specialist Portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry, however candidates with significant experience in these areas are welcome to apply. Banding is also dependant upon qualifications, but we will support the Specialist Portfolio for candidates.
We are looking to appoint a HCPC registered BMS who can contribute to the Service we provide to the residents of the Isle of Wight and its visitors.
There is a 24/7 service in place and the successful candidate will be required to participate in the system once competent.
Main duties of the job
Blood Sciences comprises Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood transfusion Laboratories. The department has recently been refurbished to a high standard and is fully computerised. Chemical Pathology is equipped with Beckman Coulter DxI800 and AU5812 analysers having just completed an equipment refresh. There is also a small manual section to provide other tests, which includes Tosoh and Roche analysers.
The Blood Sciences Laboratory currently holds UKAS accreditation. The Department holds IBMS training status and offers Specialist Portfolio and apprenticeships.
