Private client in Buckinghamshire requires experienced Land Manager to maintain and enhance their 150 acre estate.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in land management including forestry, ponds and meadows. Farming connections in the local area would be beneficial but not essential.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all estate landscape areas, which include mature woodlands, lawns, field, pond and wildflower meadow
* Managing a team of gardeners and groundsmen, to include both employed staff and external contractors.
* Introduce new planting
* Upkeep of the produce garden and cutting garden
* Lawn maintenance
* Soil health, mulching, composting, fertilising
* Seasonal garden tasks such as pruning and leaf clearing
* Maintain driveways, pathways, terraces, garden furniture etc.
* Tree maintenance/understanding
* Operate a range of garden machinery including chainsaws, tractors and irrigation equipment.
* Wildlife management
* Maintenance of fences, gates and other boundaries.
Requirements
* Applicants must have proven land management experience, preferably in a large estate.
* Must have horticultural knowledge as well as landscape maintenance
* Be proficient in operating garden machinery and hand tools
* Experienced in managing staff and external contractors
* Experience in co-coordinating projects
* Forestry, farming or horticultural qualifications would be advantageous
* Excellent communication skills
* A valid driving licence and reliable transportation
* This is a demanding role, and applicants must be physically fit and strong.
This position can be live-in or live-out. Accommodation comprises a studio flat on the estate.
