Consultant – Models and Prototypes, London
Summary
To enable the Development Centre to deliver high-quality functional and visual models and prototypes to the design studio. To provide consultancy to PDD’s designers on how things can be best made to achieve the desired outcome of the model. Creating 2D & 3D CAD for part manufacture and prototype test support.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
1. Producing parts manually from drawings
2. Finishing CNC machined parts or outsourced rapid prototyped parts
3. Set up and support SLA and FDM machines, parting finishing plus general maintenance
4. Creating Silicone tools and operating vacuum casting machinery to produce high quality resin castings
5. Applying spray finishes to parts with colour and texture matching
6. Metrology of parts using PDD’s equipment to ensure adherence to specified tolerances
7. Assembly of parts into finished models
8. Understanding of and compliance with PDD’s quality system
9. Support the maintenance and general up-keep of the Development Centre
10. Despatch of models in secure packaging
11. General building and facilities support, advising Operations Management as necessary
Requirements
1. Excellent hand model-making skills
2. Use of 3D CAD to assist in the inspection and assembly of parts into finished models
3. Direct NC programming of lathe
4. Competency on a laser cutter
5. Competency in 3D printing
6. Numeracy
7. Inter-personal skills
8. Organisational skills
9. Creative thinking and problem solving
