Assertive Rehab Pathway wards in low security and medium security are based on the Bethlem Royal Hospital site in River House (MSU) and Monks Orchard House (LSU).
The service is aimed at mentally disordered male offenders aged 18 years and over who are participating in a rehabilitation programme as part of their discharge pathway from secure services back to the community.
Our inpatient secure services support people who, as a consequence of their mental health needs, have had contact with the legal system and require a safe and secure environment that enables them to receive a wide range of treatments, therapies and care to assist in their recovery and a safe discharge to the community. The service user is at the centre and is supported holistically by a truly dedicated multi-professional clinical team who work collaboratively with the service users, families or carers and other partner organisations.
Service users admitted to the assertive rehab pathway wards will have their mental ill-health successfully treated to the extent that they can engage with the MPT, collaborating in and developing their individual pathway towards discharge, supporting people on a pathway to recovery through a series of carefully managed stages.
The pathway is part of the Croydon Adult and Behavioural & Developmental Psychiatry Operations Directorate and forms part of the full 120 forensic estate, including Medium Secure, Low Secure and Open Rehab.
Our overall aim is to improve the mental health of the service users, protect the public, and reduce re-offending. As such, we strive to promote recovery and rehabilitation, enable the reduction of risks posed, and ultimately enable the individual to leave the secure environment for one less restrictive. While someone needs support from our inpatient services, we provide a caring and safe environment within a secure setting that promotes the rights of each person to be fully involved in their care and treatment and to receive the highest standards of care.
Our Forensic Offender Health pathway provides care and treatment for individuals with mental health and complex personality needs, who may also pose a risk to the public. We aim to ensure that by providing ongoing assessment, treatment, support, and risk management assessment, we result in diversion at the earliest opportunity from the criminal justice system.
Croydon Adult and Behavioural & Developmental Psychiatry Operations Directorate is one of seven Directorates that make up the structure of the Trust. Directorates bring together clinical services and academic activities within a series of single managerial units, aligning and integrating mental health service delivery with teaching and research.
