An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 6 Specialist Social Worker within the North Wales Perinatal Mental Health Service currently based at The Ablett Psychiatric Unit, Glan Clwyd Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Social Worker who is passionate about working within a specialist mental health services, working with women / parents with upper moderate and severe, complex mental health issues.
You will be the lead professional within the team for liaising with social work and local authority colleagues across the Health Board and further afield as required. You will provide guidance and consultation to the team regarding social work related issues including safeguarding practice and concerns. You will liaise and consult with safeguarding colleagues across the health board as required.
You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team offering assessments, creating care and treatment plans and implementing appropriate, evidence based interventions.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to participate in the team's triage system and to provide signposting, consultation and guidance to referrers and other professional agencies. The post holder will be required to work independently and liaise with a variety of agencies and third sector organisations plus the individual's carers and family members.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to build and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships, be self-motivated, proactive, and demonstrate a commitment to excellent service delivery and evidence based clinical practice.
You must be approachable, compassionate, hardworking, and be able to manage your time effectively. The successful candidate will also have experience of providing supervision to junior staff.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about their own professional development. The team will provide a robust induction process, you will receive supervision in line with your own requirements and Health Board policy and you will have an opportunity to access training relating to Perinatal Mental Health. You will have an annual PADR (appraisal) and will be encouraged with further career development.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
