This exciting rotational role in our brand-new Surgical Hub could be the opportunity you've been waiting for Following a successful Government funding bid, we are proud to be developing the state-of-the-art Surgical, Diagnostic, and Treatment Hub, scheduled to open in early 2025. The unit will include 2 theatres for day-case procedures under general anaesthetic, 4 major treatment rooms for minor operations under local anaesthetic, and 10 outpatient clinic rooms. The hub will focus on delivering high-volume, low-complexity procedures from within the following surgical specialties: Plastics, OMFS, Gynaecology, Pain Management, Urology, Colorectal, General Surgery, and Upper GI. The development of this innovative hub brings numerous benefits for staff and patients, including improved access to healthcare, enhanced patient experience, better staff wellbeing, and comprehensive training and development opportunities. Successful candidates will rotate between scrub, PACU, and anaesthetics. While experience in all three areas is essential for ODP applicants, we welcome Theatre Nurses with scrub and PACU experience. Interviews will take place 7th February 2025 Main duties of the job Postholders will participate in the development and delivery of a brand-new service and must demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills, adapt and embrace new ways of working. It is vital that candidates have an understanding of working under pressure with high volume, low complexity patients. A key requirement is the ability to be flexible and work within all specialties: scrub, anaesthetic, recovery, circulating, and escort practitioners. Scrub practitioners are essential to the operating team working alongside anaesthetists, surgeons, and healthcare support workers. They support the surgeon and ensure the availability and sterility of equipment, ensuring it is accounted for Anaesthetic practitioners ensure that patient anaesthesia is as safe and effective as possible The recovery practitioner will prepare equipment and drugs to care for patients safely after an operation, monitor their condition, and provide appropriate treatment until they have recovered, including managing pain, discomfort or complications The circulating practitioner is vital to the surgical team, providing a link between the theatre and the rest of the hub Escort practitioners provide essential support and care when taking patients to theatre Performance reviews will monitor the ownership of individual learning and development to ensure service requirements are met.
