We deliver a number of different employment support programmes to help break down the significant barriers to finding work that many people face. We offer a menu of support from which participants can choose from including individually tailored advice and guidance around job search and employment, support to gain employability skills, computerised job search facilities and access to local vacancies. About the Role Support the improvement, growth and sustainability of Bexley Business & Employment (BBE), ensuring a vibrant and ambitious offer and personalised employment support to improve outcomes for all clients enabling them to achieve their potential. The postholder will contribute to an increasingly focused employment offer that will enable a broader range of residents and businesses to benefit. The post holder will contribute to the aims and objectives of the Council’s corporate plan and target the GLA’s priority groups ensuring effective delivery which aims to exceed the contractual outcomes and minimum performance standards set by external funders. Undertake audit and compliance activities to ensure contractual compliance and assist in achieving all available income from externally funded employment support projects Support the project officer and employability team leader in the delivery of externally funded employment support projects by ensuring that contractual requirements relating to quality and compliance are met Undertake regular audits of client files, both paper and electronic, recording the results and reporting back to the project officer/employability team leader on areas of concern Keep up to date with contractual requirements and work with employability teams to embed them and any subsequent changes e.g. to minimum customer service standards Investigate irregularities and non-compliance issues and contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the employment support section Assist in the gathering of internal information in response to requests from DWP, prime providers, senior management and Council colleagues Undertake associated admin duties eg maintenance of filing systems, archiving etc Candidate Profile GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent functional skills qualification Project management qualification or willing to work towards Project management skills, particularly ability to work on more than one project at a time Experience of data collection, analysis and reporting Experience of critical problem solving, making decisions on available information which can sometimes be ambiguous Understanding of budgetary control and processes Understanding of supporting legislation/best practice Experience of using ICT packages particularly Word, Excel to create tables, reports as well as ability to use customer management systems. Ability to undertake detailed scrutiny and analysis of client files (both paper and electronic) to ensure that all relevant and required information has been captured and recorded English Language Requirements for Public Sector Workers: Ability to speak with confidence and accuracy, using accurate sentence structures and vocabulary. Ability to choose the right kind of vocabulary for the situation in hand without a great deal of hesitation. Ability to listen to customers and understand their needs. Ability to tailor your approach to each conversation appropriate to the customer, responding clearly even in complex situations.
