You will support the clinical team in the delivery of a high standard of care by assisting with and carrying out a range of duties as directed by registered staff. You will demonstrate an attitude that respects and values patients, service users, and their carers, ensuring they are at the centre of care and treatment planning.
The mental health care division provides a spectrum of mental health services including adult mental health, older adult mental health, addiction, acquired brain injury services, psychology, and crisis care in people's homes, community settings, and hospitals. Services are provided to the residents of Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Warrington.

Your responsibilities will include:
1. Carrying out assigned duties involving direct care and observation of service users under the guidance and indirect supervision of qualified staff.
2. Reporting to the registered staff any observations made whilst providing care to service users, including details of mental state and risk factors.
3. Working with service users on an individual and group basis as outlined in the care plan and as directed by the appropriate named lead professional.
4. Coordinating the assessment and delivery of a planned programme of care with guidance and indirect supervision from a qualified practitioner.
5. Assisting with activities of daily living, social, recreational, and occupational activities as agreed in the service user care plan.
6. Reporting general observations and providing feedback to a qualified practitioner both verbally and in written formats, if required.
7. Contributing to the effective running of the service by providing and receiving information to/from other departments or services.
8. Assisting service users with self-administration of oral medication and ensuring any concerns/issues about medication are reported back to a qualified practitioner.
9. Using a variety of verbal and non-verbal skills to overcome communication barriers presented by service users due to their mental health needs.
10. Contributing to maintaining a safe environment for service users in the community (where appropriate).
11. Carrying out specific duties that contribute to the assessment of service users as requested by a qualified practitioner.
12. Developing and maintaining links with other agencies and services, both statutory and voluntary (where appropriate).
13. Using skills and techniques to de-escalate situations where service users become physically or verbally aggressive.
14. Carrying out observations and informing the Registered Nurse of any concerns.
15. Contributing to the development of risk management plans for service users by reporting to the qualified practitioner any issues or concerns regarding service users' behaviour/actions towards themselves or others.
16. Responding to the changing needs of service users.
17. Controlling the assessments of implemented individual service users' care plans.
18. Undertaking and understanding the support of observations as per policy (Levels 1-4).
19. Carrying out escorts with service users on and off the hospital site.
20. Supporting qualified nurses in the administration of medicines by acting as a witness.
21. Providing advice and guidance related to health promotion to the service user.
22. Planning social and therapeutic work with service users using a range of therapeutic approaches.
23. Participating in presenting multidisciplinary reviews, daily reviews, and handovers.
24. Undertaking surveys and audits.
25. Assisting in the collection of data from a variety of resources.
