This is a hybrid role; with remote working and some onsite presence in our central Leeds offices.
About the role
As Mobile Technical Lead, you will have the opportunity to contribute and oversee all technical aspects of the in-house development team and its projects.
You will:
1. Work with stakeholders (Product Owners, Senior Managers) to help define the Mobile vision and be hands on with planning, estimates and collaboration with the Architecture Team.
2. Ensure coding practices are followed, be an advocate for best practices, know what good looks like.
3. Make agnostic architectural decisions that will influence both Android and iOS platform; a candidate with a stronger Apple/iOS background would be advantageous.
4. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive innovation within the team and ensure the Squad is aware of any new techniques.
5. Ensure the security and compliance of mobile applications with banking regulations and standards.
6. Mentor Developers on best practices and all things mobile.
7. Work with UI Designers and Product Owners to understand what is possible.
8. Identify ways to reduce Technical Debt, ensuring it is handled in a practical and timely manner.
9. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring the stability and reliability of our mobile applications.
10. Be willing to learn new technologies and help integrate them into our App.
About you
You will have a proven track record as a Mobile Tech Lead or be ready for that next step up to the role! You’ll be eager to do the right things but balance business objectives and delivery needs. You will have knowledge of both platforms (Android and iOS) but it would be beneficial for a stronger Apple/iOS lens. What will you bring to the role?
1. A solid understanding of Mobile Development.
2. Hands-on experience of the Apple and Google Ecosystems.
3. Experience with mobile security best practices and secure coding standards.
4. Excellent knowledge of software design patterns and software architectural patterns.
5. Excellent mentoring skills to help team members and Developers advance in their careers.
6. Experience with Source Control Management software and tools, such as Git, GitLab, and BitBucket.
7. Practical experience of working in an Agile environment such as Scrum.
8. Experience of using accessibility tools and coding practices to ensure support for users with varying levels of abilities, or those with specific accessibility needs.
9. Understanding CI/CD pipelines such as CircleCI and Bash Scripts.
10. Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards is a plus.
