The role:
As a Lead Electronics Engineer, you will guide and mentor a team of electronics engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment while overseeing the design, development, and testing of electronic systems for defence applications. You'll manage project delivery, allocate resources, define electrical work packages, and proactively address risks to ensure successful outcomes. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll drive seamless integration across disciplines and lead continuous improvement in design practices and documentation. You will support bids and technical queries, champion team development through mentoring and performance planning, lead recruitment activities, and ensure all work complies with industry and safety standards - keeping your team aligned with the latest technologies and engineering strategy.
What we want from you:
Degree in Electronics or a closely related discipline (2:1 or above), with several years of hands-on experience in electrical/electronics design, particularly involving PCB development, microcontrollers, communications interfaces, and power supply architectures.
Leadership and line management experience in a prototype engineering environment, preferably within the defence industry, including technical project management across the design lifecycle.
Strong technical expertise in motion control systems, safety aspects of electrical/control systems, and compliance activities (e.g., CE marking, safety regulations).
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with proven experience providing technical input for new bids, supporting recruitment efforts, and driving continuous learning and development.
Solid problem-solving abilities and analytical skills, with a commitment to quality and the ability to handle complex technical challenges in a dynamic environment.
