Band 5 - Salary Range £31,892 - £39,735 per annum
Plus Distant Island Allowance of £2,380 per annum
and Relocation Assistance of up to £8,000 available
Our surgical ward provides care to adult and paediatric patients from a wide range of specialities including ENT, Ophthalmology, Max Fax, Dental, Orthopaedic, paediatric, as well as general surgery. This busy, diverse ward has 13 beds and incorporates a 2 bedded critical care unit.
As a staff nurse on Ward 1/HDU you will be responsible for all aspects of care for patients undergoing surgery both as emergencies and list admissions. Part of your responsibility will be to ensure the environment is safe and effective for delivery of care to adults and children. You will provide excellent care from admission to discharge. You will participate in ward audit, clinical quality indicators and safety cross data collection. Flexibility to work in other areas of the organisation, either hospital or community based, is also essential.
This post offers the option to be a rotational post working between Ward 1 and our 12 bedded Day Surgery Unit. Ambulatory Care is provided within the day surgery unit for long term condition care, biologic infusions, pre subcutaneous biologic injection workup, undertaking bloods and information sharing to these patients, having an interest in Disease Activity Scoring (DAS) and Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ). Assisting clinicians when administering maintenance and termination of regional or local anaesthetics. Application of Qutensa patches to patients requiring this procedure.
You will be a Registered General Nurse keen to obtain surgical care knowledge and experience. Previous surgical experience would be an advantage, though not necessary. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are essential.
