We are excited to announce a new opportunity to join the Birmingham Heartlands HIV Service as a Results Management Coordinator for the National Blood Borne Virus (BBV) Opt-Out Testing Program at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fixed term role for 24 months, and we welcome secondment considerations.
This is a new role based within the Birmingham Heartlands HIV service. The post holder will be part of the Blood Borne Virus (BBV) Results Management Team (RMT) for the National Emergency Department BBV opt-out testing program for University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
They will link, communicate, and collaborate with all work streams within the Trust's opt-out BBV testing program. They will act as the first point of contact for patients newly diagnosed with HIV or Hepatitis viruses diagnosed as part of this program. They will work with the other opt-out testing workstreams within the Trust to optimise the program to deliver maximum returns. This will involve community outreach when required. In addition, they will be involved in the results management component of any expansion of BBV testing programs developed by the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and delivering new nurse led clinics to triage and manage patients diagnosed with viral hepatitis identified through the program. This will include initial assessment, performing liver elastography and referring patients depending on stage of liver disease into the Trust's viral hepatitis clinics. They will co-ordinate the engagement of patients who receive reactive BBV tests results. This will involve close liaison with both primary care and secondary care providers as well as 3rd sector organisations. They will refer and support patients to attend appropriate HIV and Hepatitis services according to their area of residence or preference.
The successful candidate will be based within Hawthorn House on the Birmingham Heartlands Hospital site, but will be expected to travel to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Good Hope Hospital, and the community to facilitate the program.
