An experienced and educated Governess is required for the care of three children aged B10 (Jun), B7 (Jan), and G4 (May). The family lives around 15 minutes from Brighton. The children live between two households with their mother and father, within a 5-minute drive of each other, creating a very nice split living situation.
The parents are seeking a Governess to assist the children in maintaining a well-structured routine, helping them get organized for school, playdates, extra-curricular activities, and providing homework support where possible. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience as a Governess and be confident working with children of various ages, cooking simple meals, and promoting healthier eating choices. The household does not have any food restrictions or allergies, so you must be comfortable preparing all foods.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and confident to start the role, advising and guiding the parents where needed. Essentially, the family is looking for a ‘third parent’ to support the children and ensure consistency in their routines. A confident and forward-thinking candidate with great organizational skills is required, along with someone who is happy to assist with running household errands and advising on tasks that may need attention to support the children.
Accommodation will be live-out, with good rental options available in the surrounding areas of Haywards Heath, Brighton, and Hove.
The working hours will be Monday to Friday, from 12pm to 7pm during term time. The hours may increase during school holidays but will not exceed 50 hours per week. While the parents will likely continue to drop the children to school themselves, some flexibility is needed, and you may be asked to assist in the mornings if the parents have work commitments. A driver with their own car is required, as the family does not have a spare vehicle; however, they will cover additional business insurance on your policy.
The eldest son (10 years old) has interests in technology, drama, and arts and crafts. He is charismatic and well-liked by his peers. The family would like the candidate to support him in making healthier choices regarding screen time and food. Although currently undiagnosed, there may be some indications of ADHD traits, so a candidate with limited SEN experience who can handle varying emotional responses is preferred.
The 7-year-old boy is a keen rugby and cricket player who enjoys school and loves maths, reading, and board games, and is self-motivated regarding studying.
Their daughter, 4 years old, is confident with a strong personality and is very sociable. She enjoys coloring and riding her bike and scooter. She attends rugby on weekends with her brother and enjoys playing outdoors and getting muddy!
The role is expected to start around April 2025, making it suitable for candidates seeking a Spring start date, especially if their current role is ending. The salary on offer for this role is £50,000 gross per annum, and the family is ready to start interviewing candidates in February.
