We are looking for an experienced Planning Consultant at Principal/ Associate level to broaden our successful and progressive team of Planning and Environmental Consultants in the North of England. Our Planning and Environmental team (c600) are based throughout the UK including Manchester, Warrington, Leeds, Sheffield, York, Birmingham, Bristol, Belfast, Cardiff, Epsom, Glasgow, Edinburgh and London.
The position requires a candidate that combines an excellent track record in planning with experience in the delivery of a range of infrastructure and development projects with excellent business and people skills.
Responsibilities:
* Preparation of applications for a range of planning applications, also providing support on applications under TCPA, Development Consent Orders and Transport Works Act Orders.
* Prepare and implement planning strategies to deliver projects and development proposals & delivering high quality advice, reports and presentations based on sound and robust quantitative and qualitative analysis.
* Deliver evidence base studies and site appraisals to support policy development, planning consenting and master planning projects capable of withstanding scrutiny at examination.
* Drafting, checking and reviewing high quality supporting reports & negotiation of planning submissions successfully through the consenting process.
* Develop client network and collaborate with colleagues across AtkinsRéalis to win work including through formal tenders and bids & manage project inputs from other technical disciplines within AtkinsRéalis and external consultants.
Requirements:
* A degree or post graduate qualification in Town and Country Planning (RTPI accredited) with Chartered membership of RTPI.
* Detailed relevant experience working in consultancy, a local authority planning team, or similar.
* A sound, in-depth knowledge of planning law and procedures & sound commercial awareness and proven ability to manage project budgets.
* Proven experience in managing and delivering multi-disciplinary projects; ability and aptitude to work alongside and coordinate internal and external technical specialists with strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills, and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss planning, development and environmental issues.
* Proven experience of building successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders along with ability to check and review complex documents and summarise and present key issues in a clear and concise way, understandable to non-specialists.

Rewards and Benefits:
