Fairhurst is seeking an experienced Dams and Reservoirs Engineer to join our team of specialists based in Glasgow. The role supports our strategy for growth in the sector where we have a significant and varied workload of committed projects.
Our Water Services Team currently has 25 engineers and consultants with activities broadly divided into the following sub-services:
1. Dams and Reservoirs: with in-house ARPE and Supervising Engineers under the Reservoirs Acts, we provide inspection, assessment, design and construction support services;
2. Water and watercourse engineering: providing assessment services relating to river modelling, coastal flood risk, flood alleviation, hydrology and climate change resilience;
3. Infrastructure: providing design services in the areas of flood protection, watercourse structures, drainage, SuDS, water supply, and infrastructure adoption;
4. Water environment: providing EIA, hydro-geomorphology, CAR, marine licensing and other environmental advice linked to the team’s core services.
The experience profile of our team ranges from technicians and graduates to senior staff of up to 40 years’ experience who provide direction and development guidance. Fairhurst is a Limited Liability Partnership, and all of our Partners are practicing specialists that support teams and our clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are engaged in compliance, management and construction at a substantial portfolio of reservoir and dam assets for clients that include large water and utility companies, public bodies, private landowners and construction contractors. We have a robust training programme for engineers developing towards appointment to the Supervising Engineers Panel, and we are seeking experienced specialists to sustain this approach and to achieve continued growth.
Ideally we are looking for candidates who are on the Supervising Engineer’s Panel, although we may consider experienced engineers that are well progressed towards submitting for appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate should have the following:
* A degree in Civil Engineering or relevant other first degree and/or masters.
* Be a Chartered Engineer and a member of the ICE or CIWEM.
* Either be on the Supervising Engineer’s Panel under the Reservoirs Acts, or be looking to be appointed to the Panel in 2023/24.
