Looking for a MEP Project Engineer - to work in a unique MEP Station Systems role working across all 4 HS2 Main Stations, interested in candidates who are a qualified engineer, worked on rail projects ideally major stations and understand how MEP station systems integrate into an operation railway.
The HS2 programme is currently valued c£60 billion and has 10 years left to run. This is the largest construction project in Europe, opportunity to work on all 4 Station Contracts – Old Oak Common, Curzon Street, Birmingham Interchange and Euston Stations ensuring that station systems such as - Lifts & Escalators, Station Building Systems (customer information systems, security, PA, Fire etc), Low Voltage (LV) & Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) are successfully developed and integrated into the Major Stations.
The Project Engineer will support the Lead Senior Project Engineer in leading and co-ordinating engineering capability to support Stations Delivery Services Director – and provide Principal Designer progressive assurance evidence of coordination, integration and interface management for Station Common Components contracts as well as leading on some wider reaching engineering workstreams which impact all four Stations contracts.
The Station Common Component (SCC) team was established to manage the contractual responsibilities of the Station Common Components frameworks, promote better collaboration and integration between Stations and High Speed Rail Systems contracts and develop standard ways of working with other HS2 integration functions. The SCC Framework was established to ensure a common design principle & common specification of components such as Lifts and escalators across off 4 stations to drive better prices (economies of scale), aid integration and simplify Opps & Maintenance.
This is a varied role that entails liaising across the integrated project teams on the 4 stations, Rail Systems, System Safety & SME within HS2 – opportunity to really make a difference and shape the 4 stations the team will for instance manage the integration of 400 lifts & escalators across the 4 stations. Duties & Responsibilities
* To be responsible for providing technical assurance, as per the HS2 assurance requirements, through production, checking and submission of assurance evidence for technical stage gates;
* To be responsible for assuring that the design and construction of assets comply with the technical and sponsor requirements and applicable standards, specifications and procedures by supporting planned Technical Assurance Reviews and “spot-checks” of Contractor’s deliverables;
* To be accountable for supporting the Head of Engineering and Environment in discharging their duties of NEC3 Supervisor and Principal Designer Representative as mandated within the Construction Desing Management (CDM) Regulations 2015;
* To be accountable for communicating the HS2 Engineering requirements to the IPT contractor and provide responses to technical queries;
* To be responsible for providing guidance on design solutions for the asset, promoting use of best practice and innovative engineering techniques, technologies and processes, driving consistency and identifying opportunities for efficiencies within the IPT;
* To be responsible for working alongside other technical specialists to develop appropriate and cost balanced mitigation strategies and solutions, contributing to successful system integration;

Candidate Specification
Looking for a qualified engineer with experience on railway projects with an M&E or/and Building Systems Integration background. Ideally will have major station project experience working on building/station systems. Membership or working towards of an appropriate Engineering professional institution or the equivalent experience.
Open to people from Main Contractor, Consultant or client backgrounds. Could be Project Engineer, MEP Manager, MEP Designer etc. Will have a working knowledge of CDM2015 regs & an understanding how the MEP Station systems integrate with the railway systems. Good communication & stakeholder management skills are required to get information from internal and external stakeholders in addition to influencing them
