Senior Customer Support Engineer
Tait Communications is seeking a Senior Customer Support Engineer to join our Christchurch headquarters on a permanent basis. While this role is targeted at a senior level, we welcome applications from candidates with skills ranging from junior to specialist level if you have the technical expertise and capability to meet our needs.
As a key member of the Level 3 Support Services team, you will be a leading technical resource, providing advanced support and guidance to Tait teams and customers worldwide through remote communication channels and, when required, on-site support.
This role requires a broad and well-developed technical skill set. You will operate and configure complex radio systems, diagnose issues at the operating system level, and serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our products and services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide third-level technical support for complex radio terminals, systems, and infrastructure.
* Operate, configure, and troubleshoot DMR and P25 digital radios and systems.
* Deliver customer-focused solutions with a commitment to quality and efficiency.
* Lead and mentor other engineers to achieve team goals.
* Potential for after-hours on-call support and participation in international travel when necessary.
* Support other functional areas as required.
Ō pūkenga - About You
To succeed in this role, you will have a degree, diploma, or certification in engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
You will also bring:
* Experience with DMR and/or P25 Digital Radio Terminals configuration and support.
* Strong practical knowledge of radio systems, including RF system design and installation.
* A minimum of 5 years' experience with Land Mobile Radio (LMR) equipment, trunking systems, and/or simulcast systems.
* Experience with over-the-air programming and radio re-keying (advantageous).
* Familiarity with ITIL Service Management principles (preferred).
* Strong testing methodology and execution skills for solutions and software.
