Miryco Consultants is working with a high-growth InsurTech to hire an experienced manager to lead the IFRS 17 reserving process.
This role will suit technically adept actuaries with experience in IFRS 17 implementation, insurance accounting knowledge, and a desire to lead a team in a dynamic company with flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the development and execution of IFRS 17 reserving methodologies, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
* Perform regular reserve calculations and analyses, including Risk Adjustment and Loss Component determinations.
* Oversee actuarial model development, validation, and ongoing maintenance to meet regulatory standards.
* Ensure high-quality, accurate data for the reserving process and manage related documentation and reporting.
* Guide assumption-setting processes (e.g., discount rates, lapse rates, expense assumptions).
* Collaborate with various teams (pricing, valuation, reporting, IT) for integrated IFRS 17 implementation and ongoing compliance.
* Drive continuous improvement in reserving processes, including automation and optimization.
* Keep up-to-date with IFRS 17 standards and industry best practices.
* Mentor junior actuarial staff and support their professional growth.
Experience:
* Strong actuarial background with deep knowledge of IFRS 17 and reserving techniques.
* Proven experience with IFRS 17 implementation and compliance.
* Solid understanding of insurance accounting and regulatory standards.
* Proficiency in actuarial software (e.g., ResQ) and data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Python, R).
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
* Effective project management, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
* Actuarial qualification (e.g., from CAS or IFoA) and a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics preferred.
Location: United Kingdom, flexible working
Salary: £90,000 - £110,000 (Dependant on experience)
