We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, enthusiastic and motivated professional to take on the above post on Ward 12 at Good Hope Hospital.
Ward 12 is a 32 bedded mixed Older People's ward. We take on a multi-disciplinary approach to a patient's treatment, social care and complex discharge planning.
We are looking for individuals who have a passion for health care for older people, who are hardworking, compassionate, motivated to make a difference, and who want to deliver high standards of care to our older patients.
Ward 12 is a learner-led environment where nurses use coaching skills to teach and educate our students. We are looking for staff nurses who will thrive in this environment.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will practice autonomously and be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate person-centred evidence-based nursing that respects and maintains dignity and human rights. The post holder is responsible for assessment of care needs of patients and planning programmes of care, implementation and the evaluation of these programmes without direct supervision. At times they will have management responsibility for being in charge of the ward/department and supervising junior members of staff. The post holder will practice in a holistic, non-judgmental, caring and compassionate manner that avoids assumptions, supports social inclusion and recognizes and respects individual choice and acknowledges diversity. They will work in partnership with other health and social care professionals, students and trainees, agencies, service users, their carers, and families.
The post holder will contribute to the practice development within their clinical care setting and work in accordance with Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and will be responsible for completing any work-based training associated with the role.

* Evidence of professional and clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree/diploma level leading to Professional registration on the appropriate part of the NMC register i.e. (Adult / Child / Learning Disability or Mental Health)
* Evidence of undergraduate education for newly qualified nurses / or post graduate continuing professional development for registered nurses who have post registration experience
Experience

* Previous / recent experience or working in an acute secondary health and care setting (can include undergraduate student placements within the last 12 months)
* Willingness to become a practice supervisor / assessor or meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
* Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of the NMC code of conduct and the proficiencies and standards for registered nurses can apply this to undergraduate training or post graduate practice
* Being an accountable professional
* Promoting health and preventing ill health
* Assessing needs and planning care
* Providing and evaluating care
* Leading and managing nursing care and working in teams -- including prioritisation and delegation skills
