Alrewas Surgery is looking for a experienced Nurse to join our nursing team. The post is for 28-30 hours per long-standing, well respected GP practice covering a semi-rural area between Lichfield and Burton on Trent, with easy vehicle access as we are situated just off the A38 close to the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas Surgery aims to offer a welcoming, high quality GP service to all its patients.
Main duties of the job
To provide and maintain a high standard ofnursing care for patients, as well as providing nursing assistance to thedoctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. Supported by seniornurses within the practice, the role will focus on supporting patients to behealthy through health promotion and protection, encouraging healthy livingoptions and screening activities. It mayalso include other appropriate duties with due regard to current training anddevelopment

Alrewas Surgery is a semi-rural practice serving 7000 patients. We are a staff team of 27 including GPs, nurses, HCA, clinical pharmacists and administrative and management staff.

Job Responsibilities:
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nurse and GPs to promote health and wellbeing.
Such responsibilities may include:
Basic Nursing Duties
1. General observations temperature, BP, pulse, height, weight, BMI
2. Venepuncture
3. Assessment and care of patients requiring wound care
4. Removal of Sutures/Clips
5. Urinalysis and blood sugar analysis
6. Specimen collection and requesting basic pathology tests, urine culture, swabs etc
7. Recording ECGs
8. Peak Flow Readings
9. Home BP monitoring
10. Ear syringing
11. Dietary Advice and weight management
12. New Patient Medicals.
13. Cytology, Immunisations and vaccinations including childhood immunisations and flu, pneumonia and B12 vaccinations in line with DoH advice and PGDs
14. Long term chronic disease monitoring
15. Advise, support and, where appropriate, administer vaccinations to patients travelling abroad.
16. Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
17. Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings.
18. Implement and participate in routine immunisations and vaccinations, ensuring safe storage, rotation, stock take and disposal of vaccines.
19. Assist in emergency situations, should they occur at the Practice and ensure that emergency equipment is kept well stocked and maintained.
20. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate.
