Electrical Safety Senior Test Engineer Ref. 939 Department Manufacturing Salary £48,021 Job description Recruitment and Retention Allowance £1,123 per annum This role is available full-time for 37 hours per week. Working in our advanced manufacturing facility, you will use your existing skills and experience within a team of manufacturing engineers working on projects critical to protecting national security. You will use your skills and knowledge in areas such as: ● consultation with design engineers; ● evaluation of products and documentation to the applicable test standards; ● writing and reviewing evaluation reports; ● mentoring less experienced colleagues. No two days are the same. One day you could be diagnosing a fault, the next you could be providing a design engineer with advice on creepage and clearage. You will have hands-on involvement in evaluating products for use in a wide range of scenarios from small, compact, individual devices to large, rack-mounted systems. More About You To apply for this role, you will already have: ● Extensive experience in product safety testing. ● A broad understanding of safety engineering and assurance principles. ● Experience and knowledge in two or more electrical safety standards e.g. BS EN 62368, BS EN 61010, BS EN 60335. ● IT skills; particularly in Microsoft Office applications. To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you also have: ● Experience of safety-critical function designdevelopment of electrical products. ● An understanding of different certification schemes. ● The ability to fault find down to component level. ● 18th Edition wiring regulations qualified. Putting your skills to use Using your diverse range of skills within the electrical safety team, you will: ● Complete electrical safety evaluations and reports. ● Evaluate products and documentation to ensure they meet the requirements of applicable test standards. ● Ensure evaluations are completed to standard and within set timescales. ● Liaise with design engineers to provide the latest advice on standards, techniques, and components. ● Support the development of less experienced team members through mentoring and coaching. ● Utilise your knowledge of processes and standards to develop and build the capability.
