Gravity Red Inspires provide residential support for young people aged 10-18 years. We currently have three main houses, and support children and families within the community. Gravity Red Inspires aim to provide a firm but nurturing home for the young people within our care, and although the work can be challenging at times, our staff have a deep sense of achievement in seeing the children progress in their ability to take care of themselves in the readiness for their next steps into independent living. Our role is to support and nurture these children, who may have been through some very tough times, and need some stability. We are responsible for teaching them the skills required for living, which may include budgeting, cooking basic meals, cleaning, and hygiene skills. We try where possible to create a home environment by having the same group of staff within one home, to build relationships with the children, however, it is sometimes required that a staff member may need to cover more than one area. The children placed with us can be long term or short-term stays, depending on their needs, but no matter how long or short their stay with us, Gravity Red take pride in ensuring the care that each child receives it to the best of our ability. Our staff will need to be prepared to work a variety of shift, dependent on the needs of the home, and some of these shifts are sleep in shifts. Our community-based support includes taking children out for 2-4 hours (depending on what their needs are). On these community sessions, it is our aim to ensure the sessions are as enjoyable as possible, attending different activities and introducing new activities to the children we support. Some of these activities may include going to the cinema, walks in the park, farms, zoo’s and whichever activity the child is interested in. These community sessions help the children develop relationships outside of their home, improve their social skills, and also provide parents/carers with weekly respite. Overall, Gravity Red Inspires aims to improve the lives of the children we support and are passionate about the care and support we provide to children and families.
