The Head of Digital Architecture is a key role within our Digital Directorate for delivering our vision of transformational digital solutions. As Head of Digital Architecture, you will be responsible for shaping and overseeing our digital landscape at Southern Water across IT and OT, working together with our wider business to enable us to succeed whilst managing the overall risk and complexity. You will lead a team of Architects across technical disciplines to deliver our technology roadmaps, work collaboratively with our wider business colleagues to deliver our business outcomes through technology and data, and shaping solutions that are effective and cost efficient. You will have line management responsibility for architectural teams in Solution, Enterprise, Data, Security & Infrastructure architecture. Responsibilities to include: You will be accountable for managing and delivering the key outputs from the Digital Architecture team, working together within the Digital Directorate and our wider business. Direction & strategic input – Translating our business goals and objectives into a continual technology plan and direction for our digital landscape. IT & Digital Roadmaps – Visualising our path towards our target state by showing the major steps, transitional phases or technical dependencies involved. Technical governance – Providing the right level of guidance and controls for design decisions that impact our operation, cost or reuse of our landscape. Solution & architecture design – Designing solutions that meet our business and digital needs, whilst being secure, scalable and supportable in their delivery. Technical leadership & assurance – Enabling the success of our major programmes, managing our technical debt or providing expertise for important issues. Technology evaluation & selection – Evaluating available options and solutions to ensure they are fit for purpose, along with introducing technology showcases. You will have Lead Architect direct reports, which will require line management and with appropriate support for performance, development and retention. In addition to leading the function, you will be expected to collaborate closely with other Head of Function within the Digital Directorate to support internal initiatives, troubleshoot problem areas in delivery or service and work across our technology partners to help appropriately manage the cost and risk whilst introducing the right architectural solutions. Skills and experience needed: You will have significant skills & competency in IT Architecture which include the following: Enterprise IT Governance : Establishing and maintaining the framework and processes for effective governance of Digital & IT technology. IT Management : Managing an Architecture function to ensure it meets the needs of the business. Strategic Planning : Creating and maintaining a strategic plan for Digital that aligns with the business strategy. Enterprise and Business Architecture : Developing and maintaining the enterprise architecture. Solution Architecture : Designing and maintaining the architecture of IT solutions. Technical Strategy and Planning : Developing and maintaining the technical strategy and roadmap. Risk Management : Identifying, assessing, and managing risks. Consultancy : Providing expert advice and guidance. Change Implementation Planning and Management : Planning and managing the implementation of change. People Management : Managing and developing people. Skills Management : Managing and developing skills.
