Carefirst Recruitment Ltd currently require an experienced Support Worker preferably with specialist knowledge of dissociative identity disorder (DID) or autism to work alongside a female service user who needs 24/7 support in her home and in the community.
Job Purpose: You will need to provide emotional and practical support to one service user who has difficulties living independently due to health issues, emotional problems, and relationship difficulties.
Hours: Day and waking night shifts available
Main Responsibilities:
* Promoting service user with medication
* Assisting service user with light domestic duties
* Plan and either accompany or participate in indoor and outdoor activities
* Assist in the preparation of lunch and dinner
* Assist with budgeting
* Assisting with the booking and accompanying of medical appointments and sessions
* Maintain consistent handover logs
* Communicate any safeguarding concerns to Care First Management
* Remain fully conversant with case notes and safety plans implemented
* Complete incident reports following any given crisis or complaint raised
* Assisting the service user with managing her everyday living
* Treat each part with genuine respect and interest, validating their reality; be non-judgemental and never dismiss or belittle the service user
* When you are with your client you are ‘working’ at all times even if it does not feel like it. Being there fully and engaging appropriately with them will offer an alternative way of being heard, cared for, and validated that was unlikely to have been a part of their childhood.
It’s important that you have a genuinely caring nature, and the willingness to help the individual overcome their problems, as well as the ability to prioritise your workload. The service user is under the care of a multi-disciplinary team, so your ability to pass information effectively between other team members is essential.
You should be fully conversant with the crisis plan as it provides useful tools that may help you in dealing with a crisis.
Essentials:
* Experienced Mental Health Support Worker
* Honesty, reliability, trustworthiness, and a passion to make a difference
* Minimum of Level 2 or above in social care or relevant qualification
* Knowledge of Autism and OCD
Desirable:
* Experience of Dissociative identity disorder (DID)
This role would suit all newly qualified Mental Health Nurses or Social Workers wanting to work within the mental health sector. This would also suit trainee Mental Health practitioners and Psychology students.
You will need to pass a background check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
