About the Role
We are seeking a Data Scientist to provide a key strategic role at Barts Clinical Trials Unit, particularly as part of the statistical team for the TRANSFORM trial of prostate cancer screening. This national trial, jointly funded by Prostate Cancer Research UK and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), will provide evidence for the UK National Screening Committee, policy makers, and the international cancer research community by evaluating promising new screening regimes. The post-holder will work with our cross-institutional collaborative group throughout the trial research life-cycle from planning and setup through to conduct, analysis, dissemination, and reporting in impactful publications in high-ranking journals. This appointment provides an excellent opportunity for an interested and motivated Data Scientist to further develop their career, including their analytical skills through cancer screening, prevention, and early diagnosis research aimed at improving and saving lives.
About You
The successful candidate will have a relevant undergraduate or post-graduate degree, excellent interpersonal skills, and substantial experience in complex data management and methodological aspects of data ascertainment, including handling data from electronic health systems. The candidate will possess strong programming and analytical skills that can be applied to help identify eligible research participants, inform and adapt ongoing trial processes, and ascertain key health outcomes over time. A track record of contributing to high-quality health research is required.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The Wolfson Institute of Population Health harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and aims to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health, primary care, and preventive medicine. The post-holder will work in Barts Clinical Trials Unit at the Centre for Evaluation and Methods (CEM). This thriving centre brings together four collaborative units spanning clinical trials, methodology, and health economics and policy research, working together to improve evidence and methods for a healthier, better world.

Salary: £43,305 to £50,685 per annum
