Programmes include the national civic pride campaign Live Here Love Here, Blue Flag Awards for beaches, Marine Litter Surveys, and Eco-Schools NI. About the Roles: Both positions are full-time, 37.5 hours per week, and require flexibility and field-based travel. Field Officer 1: Ards & North Down and Lisburn & Castlereagh areas (Fixed term until October 2025). Field Officer 2: Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon and Newry, Mourne & Down areas (Permanent, subject to funding). Both roles will occasionally require NI-wide travel, and administrative and reporting duties will be completed remotely or in an office setting. Salary: £24,424 per annum. Due to the nature of the field-based work, it is highly desirable that you live close to and can commute to the locations stated within the roles. It is also essential that you hold a valid driver's licence and have access to a vehicle. Travel expenses will be covered for any field-based travel required. Job Purpose: Field Officers play a vital role in delivering environmental programmes, education workshops, and assessments. Working closely with schools, communities, and stakeholders, you will facilitate environmental action, inspire behavioural change, and contribute to Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful's mission to create sustainable lifestyles for all. Key Responsibilities: Community/School-Based: Complete accurate and timely reporting of data and information as required by each department. Fulfill administrative duties in line with KNIB policies and procedures. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, providing support for environmental programmes and practical projects to achieve strategic goals. Deliver high-quality, engaging workshops and training sessions tailored to various audiences. Conduct audits and assessments in accordance with internal guidelines and standards. Assist in planning and delivering events, including occasional evening and weekend work for specific campaigns. Support the development of resources and workshops to enhance programme delivery. Work to departmental timelines, budgets, and reporting requirements. Certification and Assessment: Undertake all necessary training to deliver surveys and assessments to a high standard. Conduct surveys for programmes such as the Northern Ireland Marine Litter Survey and Borough Cleanliness Survey. Ensure quality standards are consistently maintained during assessments and audits. Maintain detailed and accurate records of all work for reporting purposes. General Duties: Communicate effectively and professionally with diverse audiences. Collaborate with team members to ensure a consistent flow of information and ideas. Adhere to and develop familiarity with all internal policies and procedures. Respond to general enquiries promptly and professionally. Participate in ongoing training to maintain high performance in all aspects of the Field Officer role. Create social media content as needed, ensuring alignment with organisational guidelines. Carry out any other relevant duties as required to support organisational goals. Essential Criteria: Third-level qualification or three years' relevant experience. One year's experience in project or programme delivery, including workshops or training. Experience in data gathering and reporting. Strong written communication skills with the ability to compile high-quality reports. Full driving licence and access to a vehicle. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications. Desirable Criteria: Practical conservation or biodiversity experience. Experience conducting environmental surveys.
