We currently have a great opportunity for a Heavy-Duty Cleaner to join our team.
This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week from 09:00 - 14:00 Monday to Friday. The salary is £16,294.02 per annum.
Please note that this role will be primarily responsible for undertaking the heavy lifting and removal of student refuse (general, recycling, and glass bottles) from the kitchens. Most areas only have stair access, and the role requires high levels of manual handling.
Role responsibilities include:
* Clean designated areas within the Halls of Residence including bedrooms, bathrooms, shower rooms, kitchens, and all white goods contained in the kitchens.
* Vacuum, spot clean and shampoo carpets, sweep and polish floors, and clean stairs.
* Wash walls, doors, furniture, radiators, lampshades, and shower curtains, as appropriate.
* Empty waste bins and remove rubbish and glass from flats to bin store areas.
* Make beds, including stripping and changing sheeting; collection of laundered linen from store and bag and pack laundry for collection during the conference season.
* Take down and re-hang curtains, clean internal windows, where applicable.
* Move free-standing furniture as required.
* Wash and clean glasses, cutlery, and cooking utensils, as appropriate.
* Act in accordance with all Health & Safety policies and practices.
* Daily contact with the residents, Residence Managers, and associated UPP staff.

We are looking for: you to already have experience of heavy-duty/deep cleaning in a similar environment and have great communication and organization skills, along with an attention to detail and the passion to always do an excellent job.
You will need to have a good conversational standard of the English language and an ability to read and interpret our Health & Safety guidance. You will also be flexible to work (with notice) additional hours when the need arises, especially during the main student arrival and departure weekends. Offers of employment are subject to satisfactory vetting, inclusive of employment referencing covering the past three years, and you may be subject to additional vetting and barring checks to ensure your suitability for the role, which could include completing a basic DBS check.
