Job Overview
Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a UX Manager to lead Applied’s Europe UX team. Applied provides an agency management system and suite of software solutions that help independent insurance brokers in the U.S., Canada, UK, and Ireland better manage customer relationships, sales opportunities, data exchange with carriers, financial accounting, reporting, business processes, and policy and benefits administration. Our passion is making insurance brokers into super brokers. The ideal candidate will be obsessed with improving the lives of our users.
What You’ll Do
* Manage a team of designers dedicated to our Europe products, and collaborate with more designers throughout the portfolio to align on shared goals and consistency in UX across products.
* Invest in each of your direct reports by providing individualized coaching and professional development that helps them grow their UX skills.
* Understand, organize, track, and assign incoming work to team members.
* Create and manage project plans to provide visibility into UX workstreams.
* Take proactive leadership on projects, driving for the triple-diamond of discovery, design, and follow-up iterations.
* Identify the learning objectives of key stakeholders, translate those into prioritized research questions, and draft mixed-method research plans that gather unbiased, reliable evidence to support Product & Business decision making.
* Coordinate and conduct primary user research firsthand and teach team members how to conduct sound research.
* Bring product ideas to life with quick, well-reasoned wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
* Develop a strong understanding of our user’s experience through our suite of products, and explore the needs and motivations of Applied’s users.
* Represent UX, share updates, and gain buy-in and support from various departments of the company (development, product, sales, etc.).
* Collaborate with our dedicated Design System UX engineers on our Applied Design System by leveraging existing components and proposing improvements to the design system.
* Articulate with ease the benefit of UX methods to Product partners and the why behind you and your team’s design decisions to build up our user-centric culture.
* Build trust and establish long-term relationships through meaningful storytelling in advocating for the user with design decisions.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
We’re looking for someone who:
* Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems Office.
Your experience should include some or all of the following:
* 5+ years of experience in UX, preferably in a commercial software environment.
* 3+ years experience managing a UX team.
* Proficient in research, design and prototyping tools (Figma).
* Experience working in an Agile software development team.
