Contract Type: Temporary for 2 years - Contract will be through the Council’s third-party payroll provider, it will NOT be employed directly by Derby City Council.
Location: The role is based in Derby; however, elements can be undertaken on a home-working or hybrid basis. Travel across the East Midlands and nationally will be required.

The role will take a strategic lead in the start-up and growth of Culture Derby, a new cultural development agency for the city. The role will provide leadership and direction, support the sustainability of the cultural and creative sectors, and generate new activity that meets the needs of the people and communities of Derby.
Job Description
Culture Derby is a new strategic development agency that will provide leadership to drive the growth and impact of the culture and creative sectors in the city. It will work as an advocate and champion in decision making groups and broker meaningful public and private sector partnerships to increase investment for culture’s role in social, economic and placemaking outcomes for Derby.
We are seeking to appoint the inaugural Director for Culture Derby to oversee its inception and establish it as a key driver for cultural growth in the city. The successful candidate will lead Culture Derby, set vision and direction, build strategic relationships with stakeholders, and act as a champion for the role of culture in achieving city ambition and community outcomes.
The successful candidate will be an experienced and driven cultural leader with a strong entrepreneurial approach. They will be a skilled communicator and confident negotiator with a proven track record in building cross sector partnerships and delivery of complex cultural projects with measurable impacts.
