Teaching Personnel are looking for Childcare practitioners who adopt Trauma-informed approaches to support children with a history of traumatic events early in life.
The school:
The school is situated within the Ely area, Cardiff, Wales. It comprises 3 sites across the area, tailoring their approach to different needs and requirements for the young people they support.
The school supports young people from 3 – 19 using the curriculum for Wales, which is adapted to the needs of the pupils, including additional learning needs such as autism, learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.
The school also offers a residential unit to allow for 24-hour curriculum learning opportunities for older young people to develop independent living skills for life outside of education.
The role:
Teaching Personnel are supporting the school to find an individual able to work within one of the three sites to support young people in their education and emotional journey through to adulthood. As a trauma-informed childcare practitioner, you will take direction from the Teacher, who will provide the setup of the day and key priorities required for the day/week/month. This will be regularly checked in on with you and the young person to provide direction on next steps and inform the Teacher of any changes needed.
You will receive training from both Teaching Personnel and the school to ensure you feel equipped to fully immerse yourself in the role. If you feel you require further training at any time, please request this from Teaching Personnel, and we will guide you on how to organize it.
