Role Overview: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide crucial support to students with a range of special educational needs, working alongside our teaching staff to ensure all students can access the curriculum in a way that meets their individual needs. You will be a key part of our dedicated SEN team, providing both academic and emotional support to students in and out of the classroom. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with the class teacher to support students with special educational needs, including those with autism, dyslexia, physical disabilities, and emotional/behavioural needs. Offer individual or group interventions to support learning and personal development. Assist in the preparation of learning resources and adapt materials to meet students' specific needs. Provide support for students during lessons, helping them to focus, understand instructions, and complete tasks. Promote inclusion and social interaction between students of different abilities. Support the implementation of personalised learning plans and targets for each student. Help with classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment. Assist students during breaks and extra-curricular activities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required. What We Are Looking For: We are looking for an individual who has a strong commitment to working with children with special educational needs and who possesses the following qualities: Previous experience working with children with special needs, either in a school or similar setting, is highly desirable. Understanding of various SEN, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral difficulties. Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with children, teachers, and parents. A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach when working with children. A team player with a flexible and proactive attitude to support students’ learning needs. Relevant qualifications such as a Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) or equivalent is an advantage. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
