Job Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to lead our Purchasing & Logistics team. This role will drive the strategy for Purchasing Excellence, oversee the development and delivery of our Logistics Strategy, and manage the growth and performance of the in-house purchasing team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the internal purchasing functions and team to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
* Provide direct line management for the Store Team Leader role and indirect management of the store team.
* Deliver and execute the Project Charter for stores logistics, covering key areas such as goods in/out, internal production material movement, export processes, and stock control/management.
* Collaborate with the Store Team Leader to enhance team capabilities and align with cultural and procedural changes required to meet business growth targets.
* Work closely with project managers to ensure that purchasing and logistics support aligns with project goals, focusing on cost, quality, and timely delivery.
* Support Dataroll operations by ensuring materials are available in a cost-effective and timely manner, in collaboration with the Dataroll Works Manager.
* Develop and implement a supplier development program to meet both current and future business needs.
* Drive continuous improvement through the implementation of purchasing and logistics KPIs, which will be incorporated into the operations scorecard.
* Identify and select suppliers for both current and future business needs, including in-house manufacturing, sub-contractor machine builders, and aftermarket growth.
* Optimise logistics and stock control systems (e.g., Supplier Kanban, SAGE data for max/min stock, ABC analysis).
* Establish consignment stock agreements with suppliers for critical or high-value components.
* Develop and implement purchasing best practices to support in-house build programs efficiently.
* Review and analyse total purchasing spend, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, improved quality, and enhanced delivery timelines.
* Ensure that supplier agreements are up to date and aligned with current and future business requirements.
* Manage the SAGE MRP and procurement data, including stock levels and lead times, and take action based on SAGE recommendations in line with Vapormatt operating procedures.
* Oversee the raising, kitting, and progression of work orders in accordance with SAGE MRP recommendations.
* Plan for the future structure of the Purchasing & Logistics function, ensuring a seamless transition beyond the 1-2 year management training secondment, and establish a clear succession plan.
