We are looking to appoint a motivated and conscientious Research Governance, Ethics and Integrity Support Officer (the RGEI Support Officer) to join the Research Governance, Ethics and Integrity team (RGEIT) within the Directorate of Research and Business Engagement. Under the supervision of the Research Ethics Manager, the Support Officer will support and promote good research practice and ethical standards across the University.
The RGEI Support Officer will undertake pre-screen checks of all applications seeking approval from the University Research Ethics Committee (UREC), ensuring compliance with University policy and guidelines as well as relevant UK legislation (e.g. UK GDPR). They will also act as the first point of contact for queries relating to research ethics, including providing advice on the criteria for ethical exemptions, the requirements for ethical review and the available routes. They will also act as Secretary to at least one of the URECs, including advising the Committee, taking minutes of the meetings, coordinating feedback to applicants and handling any follow-up actions.
The RGEI Support Officer will be detail-oriented and able to balance a number of time-sensitive commitments with competing deadlines. They will also be flexible and able to provide support to the Research Ethics Administrator and Research Ethics Officer as and when required.
