Hours: 37.0 Hours per Week We have a unique opportunity for an Asbestos Surveyor to join our Property Services Team at Solihull Council, a small team of surveyors responsible for the effective provision of property maintenance services to Council premises and external clients. You will be responsible for the management and programming of asbestos surveys to council owned non-domestic buildings, largely carrying out re-inspections and giving expert advice and guidance to clients and surveyors on all asbestos related matters. You will also be responsible for managing contracts and overseeing specialist consultants carrying out Management, Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys and removals. Your main responsibilities will include: Managing and conducting a programme of asbestos re-inspections on Council and external client non-domestic properties in accordance with current regulations; including taking samples where necessary. Producing accurate, clear and concise documentation relating to buildings’ asbestos records and sample locations Being able to carry out material scores, liaise with customers to produce priority scores and present and discuss reports Arranging and project managing specialist consultants carrying out Management, Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys To manage any follow on works from asbestos surveys, manage the successful removal or encapsulation of asbestos works on a variety of projects and ensure they are carried out to HSE guidance including raising orders To be responsible for responding to and dealing with any emergency situations relating to asbestos and co-ordinating remedial works You will be: Qualified with BOHS P402 Proficiency Certificate in Building Survey or RSPH Level 3 Certificate in Asbestos Surveying An excellent communicator, with the ability to provide expert advice to a range of partners and stakeholders, including non-specialists on technical and H&S compliance matters Experienced in compiling fully detailed asbestos re-inspection reports and taking bulk samples in accordance with codes of practice. Experienced in site supervision including the supervision of contractors/consultants This role will work on a hybrid basis, including working from home, from our offices and from Council premises across the Solihull borough.
